Local and state leaders spoke during a livestream briefing to provide updates on ICE activity in Minnesota. The briefing included Minneapolis Councilmember Aurin Chowdhury, Sen. Scott Dibble, Rep. Mike Howard, Minneapolis City Council President Elliott Payne and Hennepin County Director Christa Mims.

The Department of Justice is launching a civil rights investigation into the death of Alex Pretti, who was fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis. This comes as the FBI has become the lead investigator in the case. 

The Justice Department has opened a civil rights investigation into the death of Alex Pretti in Minnesota, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed Friday.

State lawmakers from across the U.S. joined DFL lawmakers Thursday. Those states will be participating in Friday's Day of Solidarity. 

White House Border Czar Tom Homan said they're working on a drawdown plan for federal officials in Minnesota, but only if there's cooperation with local and state leaders. Questions remain about what cooperation DHS is expecting to have with county jails in Minnesota. FOX 9's Rob Olson is digging into this. 

In his first news conference since arriving in Minnesota, Trump adviser and Border Czar Tom Homan laid out the requirements for an ICE drawdown in Minnesota.

White House Border Czar Tom Homan, in his first briefing after taking over Operation Metro Surge, said he is working on a drawdown plan of federal agents in Minnesota, but it depends on cooperation with state and local officials. 

When asked how many federal agents are in Minnesota, Border Czar Tom Homan said there have been a lot of rotations but did not provide a specific number. Court records show there were more than 3,000 federal agents in Minnesota, including ICE and Border Patrol officers, earlier this week. Homan said on Thursday they're working on a drawdown plan of federal agents but that depends on cooperation with state and local officials.

White House Border Czar Tom Homan gave his first update as head of ICE operations in Minnesota, saying great progress has been made. Homan did say they're staying in Minnesota until the “problem's gone,” noting the withdrawal of federal law enforcement in Minnesota depends on cooperation in Minnesota.
