Timberwolves take Georgia Tech guard Josh Okogie with first-round pick

The Timberwolves selected Georgia Tech guard Josh Okogie with their first-round pick Thursday at the 2018 NBA Draft.

With a seven-foot wingspan and bruising style of play, Minnesota is getting a solid defender who shone at the combine with the fastest three-quarter court sprint and highest vertical jump with a running start.

Last season for the Yellow Jackets Okogie averaged 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

The Timberwolves used draft night last year to reshape their roster with a headliner trade for Jimmy Butler that dealt Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and seventh overall pick Lauri Markkanen to Chicago. The Bulls then sent the 16th overall selection, Justin Patton, to the Wolves. Patton sat out his entire rookie season with a broken foot. Markkanen made the NBA All-Rookie team.

Praise the Lord 🙏🏽. All I can say

With the 48th overall pick, the Wolves made their second choice of the night taking forward Keita Bates-Diop from the Ohio State University.
