Congratulations to Sportscaster of the Year Dawn Mitchell

Congratulations to Fox 9's Dawn Mitchell, named the Minnesota Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Dawn accepted her award Monday night.

Thank you from Dawn Mitchell

What an amazing night! Humbled to be the only female sportscaster winner in the country. Forever touched by the loud cheer by not only my table which included my brothers -- but Lesley Visser and her entire entourage's table in front who stood up and cheered. Thank you Lesley for the personal mentions of me and Ann Killion (San Fran Chronicle) in your Hall of Fame induction speech. I love you too! Thank you for being a friend and mentor all these years.

To Sean McDonough who forever touched my heart by getting up from his table and coming over to give me a kiss and hug of congratulations as I got off the stage. Thank you. That meant the world to me! A friend and a mentor for lifetime. (Plus...you and Ian had us rolling in laughter as you introduced Bill Raftery for his Hall of Fame induction. Well done!)

I am blown away by how lucky I have been to have these people in my life. And blessed to have had the chance to learn from them (Including Kevin DuPont, Bob Ryan, Bill Raftery) and grateful to be reunited with them. Congrats to all the winners. Especially my Sportswriter MN counterpart Joe Christensen! This weekend my many different worlds and lives came full circle. I am thankful to reconnect with old friends, make new ones and also to have my brothers there to share this with me. I love you.
