Woman sitting in minivan shot and killed in north Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Minneapolis police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on the 2100 block of Penn Ave. N. on Thursday.

According to police, a woman was shot while sitting in her minivan around 6 p.m. She was then transported to North Memorial hospital where she passed away.

Right now it’s unclear if she was the intended target. Several people have been taken into custody.

"To be perfectly honest, we had multiple scenes this evening not related to this," Inspector Mike Kjos said. "There was more than one gun incident this evening. We have a serious problem right now with people resorting to gun fire, and often times there's not a real good issue that we can identify what the reason for the gun fire was."
