Winter weather advisory in effect for Twin Cities metro

With a winter weather advisory set for the Twin Cities metro overnight into Friday, models are predicting 1-3 inches of sloppy snow.

It's the wind, however, that's really going to bite, blowing in up to 40 mph gusts at times.

This storm probably won't look much like the Halloween Blizzard of 1991--in fact, it's unlikely that much snow sticks around at all. The ground, and the atmosphere in general, are still quite warm.

The average one-inch snowfall comes Nov. 18, though the earliest ever recorded was the first week of September.
