Wadena, Minn. mother is 15th victim of domestic violence homicide

A Wadena, Minnesota mother of three is the 15th domestic violence homicide victim in the state so far this year, according to the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women.

Margaret St. Marie, 27, was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, Antonio St. Marie, 26, at their home in Wadena on Nov. 7. Wadena were called to the home on a report of a man with a gun and found Margaret’s body inside. Her husband fled from the scene and crashed head-on into an oncoming pickup truck. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and was later arrested. 

Antonio is expected to be charged in Margaret’s murder later this week. He has prior convictions for domestic assault and violation of a domestic abuse no contact order. He was under another domestic abuse no contact order at the time of Margaret’s murder.

Hundreds of organizations, businesses and homes will display a blue flag with the words ‘Live Free Without Violence” in the public eye this week to honor Margaret and raise awareness about domestic violence.
