Univ. of Minn. student robbed on first day of new semester
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A University of Minnesota student was robbed off-campus near the Pillsbury Court Apartments the night the university's spring semester began.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19 at about 10 p.m., Minneapolis police responded to a report of an aggravated robbery near 11th Avenue SE and 6th Street SE. According to the police report, two suspects approached him and displayed a handgun, demanding his valuables. He gave up his cash and ID, and the suspects fled south. He was not hurt.
Detailed suspect descriptions are not available at this time, police said. The last “Timely Notification” issued to students, which are crimes that meet criteria under the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, was on Dec. 14.
