Uber driver critically injured in north Minneapolis crash that caused power outage

An Uber driver is critically injured after a crash in north Minneapolis Friday night.

Police responded to the crash around 9:25 p.m. at Plymouth Avenue North and Lyndale Avenue North where three people were injured, including the male Uber driver.

According to police, an Uber car was heading east Plymouth Ave. and an SUV was going south on Lyndale when they collided in the intersection. The car then went off the road and struck a large electrical box, disrupting the electrical service to the area.

Speed, failure to yield, and alcohol may have been contributing factors in this crash. The driver of the SUV is in custody.

The power was fully restored early Saturday morning.
