Twin Cities metro hit with heavy rain, potential overnight flooding in southwestern MN

Heavy rains moved through the Twin Cities metro area during the Thursday evening commute.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight for southern Minnesota, which includes parts of the Twin Cities metro area.

Overnight, there are potential flooding concerns especially in southwestern Minnesota, which was impacted by flooding just this past week. 

The storms came after a very hot day in the metro area, with the heat index hitting 108 degrees in the Twin Cities.
