St. Cloud police seek man who beat 70-year-old woman, stole purse

Police in St. Cloud, Minnesota, are looking for help finding a man suspected of robbing and beating a 70-year-old woman Sunday at the Crossroads Mall.

Officers responded to a robbery at Macy’s and were told that the suspect was last seen running east through the north parking lot of Target.

Through the investigation, officers learned that a man followed the victim into Macy’s and once inside the store, the suspect grabbed her purse, which was hung over her shoulder, and attempted to pull it from her.

Then, a 23-year-old woman who witnessed the incident approached just as the suspect ran back out of the store. The witness briefly ran after the suspect who dropped the purse in the Target parking lot. No weapons were ever used or observed during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 16-18 years of age, about 5’9” tall with a heavy build, wearing a white t-shirt, black athletic pants, white shoes, and an orange and white stocking cap.

The victim received minor, non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics.
