Son arrested after mother found stabbed to death
BENA, Minn. (KMSP) - Officials with the Cass County Sheriff's Office arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to his mother's murder in Bena, Minn.
Wednesday morning at 6:21 a.m. responders arrived at a home in Bena after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman, but upon arriving, officials determined she had passed away.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Joy Marie Matthews and revealed she died of multiple stab wounds.
Tuesday evening, the woman's son was found outside the Big Winnie Bar. Deputies arrived after receiving reports the man was "out of control" and had attacked and assaulted some people outside of the bar.
Authorities arrested the man in connection to the assault and homicide. He remains in custody at the Cass County Jail.
Formal charges are pending.
