There is a very complex forecast shaping up over the next 24 hours in the Fox 9 viewing area.

The forecast starts with heavy rain possibilities overnight into Thursday afternoon from the greater Twin Cities metro south into Iowa.

The metro is in the 1”-2” range for rainfall and areas south of the metro in in the 2”-4”+ range with a Flash Flood Watch until Thursday afternoon.

The forecast then transitions to severe storm possibilities Thursday afternoon and evening as a sharp cold front tracks across the state from west to east, possibly arriving in the metro between 6 and 8 p.m. Threats include damaging winds, hail, heavy rain and possibly tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the Fox 9 viewing area in a slight risk of severe weather with the metro and areas south and east in Wisconsin in an enhanced risk of severe storms.

With two different types of severe weather possibilities with different timing tomorrow it's important to stay sky aware Thursday.
