Celebrations of the Chinese New Year are underway at the Mall of America this weekend.

Singers and dancers with local groups showcased Chinese culture in the rotunda where crowds gathered to ring in the Year of the Dog.

Traditional red pockets were given out with gifts inside. The pockets represent good luck and are a symbol to ward off evil spirits as the new year commences.

The last chance to join in on the fun is Sunday from 12-5 p.m.
