BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (KMSP) - A 3-year-old boy named Mikey was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn Park, Minn. Thursday morning, and police eventually figured out where he lives late that afternoon after distributing his picture, pinning the incident on miscommunication between adults.
Mikey didn't know his last name or his parents' names, complicating the search. He was found near the intersection of 84th Avenue and West Broadway just before 7:40 a.m., and police discovered just before 1 p.m. that he lives just down the street.
"The child’s mother has been located and Brooklyn Park investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding this event. The child will stay in protective custody while the investigation continues," police said in a news release.
Police initially confirmed he was not from a nearby child care center, and officers canvassed the neighborhood with his photo.
