Light flurries and low temperatures brought another day of slick roads in the Twin Cities metro area.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, from midnight to 4:30 p.m. Friday statewide there were 289 crashes and 116 vehicle spin outs. None of the crashes were fatal, but 31 crashes had injuries.

Friday morning, emergency responders extricated one person from a serious crash on eastbound Interstate 494 at Lyndale Avenue. The crash caused delays during the morning commute.

While the roads are still slippery, the crash totals significantly drop from Thursday, which saw a total of 1,129 crashes statewide.

During winter conditions, authorities recommend drivers to give themselves extra time before leaving to their destination, slow down and give extra stopping space in between cars.
