Minnesotan among those killed in Las Vegas shooting
LAS VEGAS (KMSP) - A Minnesota man has been confirmed as one of the people killed in the horrific shooting in Las Vegas, according to family friend and a coworker.
Steve Berger, a longtime country music fan, was celebrating his 44th birthday with his girlfriend and friends at the Route 91 Harvest Day Festival.
His mother, Mary Berger, says Steve and his friends were near the front of the crowd when Berger's friend saw him get shot and fall to the ground. The group got separated in the chaos and had been searching for Steve ever since.
“Wonderful, fun-loving, outgoing individual,” said Mary Berger of her son in a phone interview. “Loves his family always into sports and working hard.”
EFS Advisors, the company where Berger worked as a financial advisor, released the following statement:
"It is a very, very, very sad day for all that knew him and had the opportunity to work with him. The world is a better place because Steve was in it."
The gunman shot down on the concert crowd from the Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500 others.
