Minnesota crash kills two fathers on eve of Father's day

A two-car crash just south of the Twin Cities claimed the lives of two fathers just a day before Father's day while sending several of the two men's family members to the hospital, according to police.

Farmington native Jon Fontaine, 36, was driving a pickup truck on Goodwin Avenue in Vermillion Township just after 8:30 p.m. when he ran through a stop sign at 190th Street East, colliding with a Chevy Traverse. The impact caused the Traverse to roll over, and killed both Fontaine and the other car's front seat passenger, 34-year-old Jared Lazer.

Lazer's wife and three small children were also in the car at the time of the crash, while Fontaine's 12-year-old son was also in the pickup. All five were injured and transported to the hospital.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
