Mall of America ready for Super Bowl fun

The Super Bowl isn’t just taking over downtown Minneapolis, it’s also moving into the Mall of America.

“We’ve been busy,” said Jill Renslow, Mall of America vice president of business development. “We’re ready for this. We’ve been working on this for over two years.”

In a few days, the north end of Mall of America becomes a football media focal point. Four stages are being set up in the north atrium for the SiriusXM radio shows, which will broadcast at the mall all week.

Just outside the food court on the third level will be a huge area called “Radio Row.”

“So it’s 150 different media outlets will be set up and broadcasting live all next week, so that’s Monday through Friday next week,” said Renslow.

She says traditionally radio broadcasters are part of the NFL experience, but in Minneapolis there wasn’t space and bringing Radio Row to the Mall of America also opens it up for more people to see.

“So with our convention center being smaller in size than some of the other markets that the Super Bowl’s hosted, that’s going to be filled with the Experience, so that gave us the opportunity to expand the fans across the metro,” said Renslow.

Fifty stores are hosting events too.

“We actually have all of our common areas booked up the entire week,” said Renslow. “All of our retailers are stepping up and also celebrating the big game.”
