Highway 7 closed after oversized tank falls from trailer

Highway 7 near Victoria, Minnesota will be closed from Smithtown Road to Highway 41 until 6 a.m. Thursday after a 368,000 pound tank fell from an oversized load trailer. The accident happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Cranes needed to be brought in to lift the tank.

State Patrol commercial vehicle inspectors are working to determine why the load shifted and fell from the truck. First responders at the scene told Fox 9 the load shifted on the trailer as the driver braked for overhead wires. The truck carrying the load leaked both diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids. It is unknown how much fluid was lost in the leaks, but all leaks are now contained.

No injuries were reported. The trip began in Plymouth and was headed to Houston.
