Police say the person of interest, a 10-year-old girl, was identified on Jan. 17.

Law enforcement officials are now working with the Anoka County Attorney's Office to pursue charges against the girl and a 13-year-old boy who was already arrested after the threats were made, according to a news release from Fridley Public Safety.

The police department said it is working with the school district to ensure a safe return for students on Jan. 21.

Threats cancel classes

The backstory:

The Fridley Public School District notified police about the threats made on social media on the evening of Jan. 14.

The school district said it canceled after-school activities that night and then classes on Wednesday "Out of an abundance of caution". The district then announced on Wednesday it would also cancel classes again on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, Fridley police announced it had arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection to the threats. He was then booked and held in Lino Lakes Juvenile Detention.

Friday and Monday were already previously scheduled days off for the district.
