Fire breaks out at abandoned Bunge Grain Elevator in Minneapolis

A fire broke out at an abandoned grain elevator in Minneapolis Friday morning.

The fire was at the Bunge Grain Elevator on the 1200 block of Brook Avenue, across from Van Cleve Park. Heavy smoke was showing when fire crews arrived.

The fire started from a burned out conveyer belt that was inside the grain elevator for a demolition project going on at the time, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department. The site was being repurposed and workers were taking down the silos around the building.

No one was injured in the fire.

Crews extinguished the fire by 12 p.m.
