Escaped kangaroo found in Wisconsin using drone

A kangaroo that escaped last week from a petting zoo in central Wisconsin was spotted by search crews using a drone.

Kangaroo escape

The backstory:

Chesney the kangaroo escaped from Sunshine Farms in Necedah, Wisconsin on March 25.

Officials said Chesney "got spooked" and bounced away like he was "training for the Olympics."

Local perspective:

With help from local authorities, the zoo searched for two days for the exotic animal, but with no luck.

But with the help of a drone operation, they finally caught their break after the animal was missing for about three days.

Drone to the rescue

Big picture view:

On FOX 9 All Day, drone operator Colton Johnson with Midwest Aerial Drone Services recounted the search.

"The way I would describe it is he almost looks like a dinosaur running through the woods, just kind of hopping around with that long tail," Johnson said.

Ultimately, using the drone, crews were able to track down Chesley and get him back home.

In a video message, the zoo thanked everyone who helped with the search.
