BLAINE, Minn. (FOX 9) - On Sunday in Blaine, newcomers had an opportunity to learn some secrets of the sport of curling, from Four Seasons Curling Club founding member Jose Chapa.
What to know about curling
What they're saying:
"We’re very happy with the amount of people we had come out here," Chapa said.
"It’s a sport you can do from grade school till you’re 80 to 90 years old," Chapa continued. "You can do it for a long time."
Sunday’s event was offered for free. Jennie Backstrom and Pete Kolb were two of dozens of visitors who appreciated the opportunity.
"I always thought it was something fun and exciting, and thought it seemed easy to do. But it really isn’t, there’s a lot of skills required," Backstrom said.
"I’ve always been curious about it since I’ve seen it in the Olympics," Kolb added.
