PEPIN TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - A 17-year-old was hospitalized Friday night after her car was struck by a boulder that slid down the side of a hill.
The incident occurred on Hwy. 61 in Pepin Township, Minn. just after 6:30 p.m.
Sydney Frances Flack, of Red Wing, was the driver of the Ford Focus. She was wearing a seatbelt and suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
She was taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center by Wabasha Ambulance.
According to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have responded to a few boulder-related calls in recent days.
“We have quite a few roads where rocks can fall from above,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote on its Facebook page. “In the last couple of days alone there have been a few instances of troubles caused by these rocks. Always be alert to changing road conditions, including rocks!”
