1 dead in boating incident on Mississippi River in Champlin, Minn.
CHAMPLIN, Minn. (KMSP) - A power boat mishap caused the death of a boater on the Mississippi River in Champlin, Minnesota Thursday night.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when Lorne Lindberg's boat capsized near the Champlin landing. Rescuers pulled the 72-year-old out minutes after the boat flipped over and performed CPR, but it was too late.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Lindberg died of blunt force injuries due to a power boat mishap.
"He was just having fun, probably going too fast for what he can control," one neighbor said.
Neighbors said they'd seen Lindberg racing with a friend in a white boat every other day.
