1 dead in apparent Minneapolis drive-by shooting

Minneapolis police are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting near the corner of 38th and Fremont Avenue North.

Just before 6:30 p.m., police responded to the 3900 block of Fremont Avenue North on a report of a possible drive-by shooting and found a man inside a residence with gunshot wounds. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he died a short time later.

The suspect vehicle, described as a light colored minivan, fled northbound on Fremont and was gone before officers arrived. It is not believed to be a random incident and police have not made any arrests.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released the victim's identity.
