What to expect:
A winter storm will impact Minnesota over the weekend that's likely to bring several inches of snow across much of the state.
Winter storm warnings, watches, and advisories have been issued across the Rocky Mountain region through Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

In Minnesota, the winter storm watch issued across the central and southern parts of the state have transitioned to a winter weather advisory, which is in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Timeline:
The snow is expected to enter central Minnesota Friday evening and push east, reaching the metro on either side of midnight. Here’s a timeline of what to expect.
- Friday night: Fluffy snow begins falling in the metro after midnight, with periods of heavy snowfall. Snow accumulation of 2–3 inches is likely.
- Saturday morning: Snow continues through the morning before tapering into light flurries. An additional 1–3 inches of snow is possible.
- Saturday midday: Snow tapers off by late morning or early afternoon for a mostly cloudy day.
This system could bring 3–6 inches of snow to central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro. Areas of southern and northern Minnesota could get 1–3 inches of accumulation. The heavier snowfall is expected in western Wisconsin, with a potential of 4-7+ inches of snow.
Snow emergencies declared
Crystal:
The City of Crystal has declared snow parking restrictions effective on Feb. 8 at 9 a.m.
After a snowfall of at least 1.5 inches in the city, parking is prohibited on all public streets and alleys until the snow has stopped accumulating and the street or alley has been plowed. Vehicles parked on streets or alleys during snow emergencies may be tagged and/or towed at the owner’s expense.

Temperatures will push colder after the snow, with highs dropping into the teens to start the week and single digits by Tuesday.
