MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Snow hit the state on Wednesday night, with northern Minnesota picking up a few inches and southern regions getting an icy glaze.

A system moved into Minnesota, dropping 2-6+ inches of snow in the northern regions of the state, little to no snow in the south and less than an inch of snow in the Twin Cities metro.

What's next:
While parts of central and southern Minnesota missed accumulating snow from the recent system, there’s another chance for snow on Friday.
A winter storm watch is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday, with 6+ inches of snow possible in central and southern Minnesota. This system could be the largest snow storm of the season so far in the Twin Cities.
The snowfall is expected to arrive late Friday night, leaving most of the day relatively quiet. The majority of the snow is expected on Saturday, before moving out by Sunday for a chilly and bright day.
