Minnesota high school football games race to beat storms

Many of the high school football games scheduled for Friday night across Minnesota have been moved to Friday afternoon or early Friday evening kickoff times due to the threat of severe weather.

Foley at Glencoe-Silver Lake moved to 2 p.m., Watertown-Mayer vs Rockford moved to 3 p.m., Buffalo vs Brainerd moved to 4 p.m. and Woodbury vs Farmington moved their game to 5 p.m. High school football fans and families should check with their school or program for any scheduled changes.

At least some isolated storms appear likely to develop late Friday afternoon and evening and push eastward, according to Fox 9 meteorologist Cody Matz. Any storms that develop run a slight risk for severe weather with strong winds and large hail as the main threats, but very heavy rain, and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially in storms that manage to stay isolated.
