Update: Southbound Highway 169 between Mankato, Minnesota and St. Peter reopened Thursday evening, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. 

Parts of southern Minnesota were drenched with rainfall totals topping 2 to 4 inches in several counties on Wednesday.

April showers bring May flowers, right? 

It may still look and feel a bit like winter, but Minnesota lakes don’t lie… it’s definitely spring. 

Is April 2019 giving you a little taste of déjà vu? Well, that makes sense considering we had the first blizzard in years roll through the Twin Cities last April and now another storm in a spring month gives the metro widespread amounts of 7-11 inches of snow with well over a foot across parts of western Minnesota. 

Dash cam video shows a Minnesota State Trooper fighting and ultimately succumbing to intense winds in southwestern Minnesota during a storm Thursday.

The spring storm has now dropped between 8-10 inches of snow on the Twin Cities metro and up to 17 inches in some parts of western Minnesota.
