After a long winter, Minnesota got its first taste of spring on the first day of spring.

A few aggressive snow bursts with snowfall rates of one inch per hour helped folks in a narrow band just northwest and north of the immediate Twin Cities metro see 1 to 4 inches or more. Here's what to expect the rest of the day.

Sunday will mark the first day of a lovely springtime warm up! Temperatures will top out in the upper 30s and low 40s statewide under plenty of sunshine.

The rain/sleet/freezing drizzle transitioned into snow overnight. At times, snow falling at a rate of 2" an hour. Sunday will be dominated with cloud cover. Temperatures will struggle to get to the low 30s, so there won't be much melting happening Sunday.

Foggy sky and slick roads carry us into the start of our weekend after some rain/freezing drizzle fell overnight. We'll start our Saturday with a brief lull in the action before rain begins to develop in the late morning to early afternoon.

Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings have been issued for parts of central and northern Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend.
