State blames reporting errors for outsized SNAP payout figures

The state on Friday said reporting errors led to what appeared to be dramatic spikes in federal food benefit payouts in recent years. The agency that administers the program in Minnesota issued the explanation after a Republican state lawmaker and others on social media questioned the numbers.

Minneapolis educators file intent to strike over pay and class size concerns

The Minneapolis Federation of Educators has filed its intent to strike, citing low wages, pay inequities, and overcrowded classrooms—some with up to 40 students. Negotiations between MFE and Minneapolis Public Schools continue, and while a strike could begin Nov. 11, union leaders stress the filing doesn’t guarantee one.
