Apple River stabbing trial

The surviving victims of the Apple River stabbing have filed a lawsuit against Nicolae Miu and his insurance company. 

A week after a man was sentenced to prison for stabbing five tubers on the Apple River, a true-crime documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the investigation and trial that garnered national attention and sparked debate about the limits of self-defense.

The anguish and heartbreak still make Isaac Schuman’s mother physically sick. He was killed in a stabbing on the Apple River two years ago.

While last week’s sentencing of Nicolae Miu closed the chapter on a two-year legal odyssey, the pain and trauma of the Apple River stabbing continues to ripple far beyond western Wisconsin.
