Tyus Jones returns to Apple Valley, inspires students to follow dreams

Minnesota-native Tyus Jones had quite the year -- he won the national championship at Duke where he was the NCAA tournament MVP, and he was drafted by the Timberwolves. But Wednesday was all about helping kids in his hometown reach their own goals.

Jones returned to the place where it all began at Apple Valley High School.  In an auditorium filled with students, he gave them some inspiration as part of The Harbor tour by Jostens.

“Growing up here in Apple Valley I would’ve never dreamed that I’d get to play in the NBA, but that’s been my dream since kindergarten,” he told students. “You can’t do it alone. You have to have people in your corner, and a circle of people that you trust.”

He told the kids that there’s no one who can stop you from achieving your dreams.

“No one can tell you how much you can and can’t accomplish,” Jones said.
