Teddy Bridgewater throwing again at Vikings practice

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was back at practice Tuesday ahead of the team’s preseason home opener Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium against the San Diego Chargers.

Bridgewater had reportedly been nursing a sore shoulder. Bridgewater did not play in the last preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks and did not throw this past weekend at practice. He was reportedly still nursing a sore shoulder. At practice Tuesday, Bridgewater was back and throwing, but no deep passes.

The team has not said whether or not Bridgewater will play in Sunday’s game.

“I told you guys when I first got here I will try to be as transparent and honest as I can, and I will be. But, there are certain things I’m not going to tell you,” Zimmer said at a press conference Tuesday. “If he had a certain issue with his shoulder, then I’m going to make sure I err on the side of caution. Also because if I played him and he got hurt, you guys would be killing me in the press.”

Teams do not need to disclose injuries during the preseason. Zimmer said Bridgewater was healthy enough to play in Seattle, but he made the call not to play him. At practice Tuesday, he made it clear that would continue.

“I’m always going to protect the players,” Zimmer said. “I’m always going to do what’s best for the organization and you’re going to have to respect that.
