Lynx players return home with gold from Rio

Four Lynx players and their head coach received a hero’s welcome when they returned home from Rio de Janeiro with their Olympic gold medals.

The Lynx players had a huge hand in helping team USA repeat as gold medal champions for the 6th straight time.

Lindsey Whalen, Seimone Augustus, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore along with Coach Cheryl Reeve arrived at MSP airport just after 6 p.m. on Monday.

Their ardent supporters gave them a big welcome with balloons and cheers.

There are a lot of similarities between the Olympic team and the Lynx squad as both are loaded with superstars that work together and that, according to Seimone Augustus, makes things a bit easier by sharing the work load.

“No one player has to feel the pressure of doing everything and we were just in a comfort zone,” said Augustus. “A lot of people don’t know, we were only together for like 28 days as opposed to other teams that were together a few months to prepare. So the trust level we had to have to be able to get this done was at a high level.”
