Kai Forbath named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - Minnesota Vikings kicker Kai Forbath has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday.
Forbath made all six of his field goal attempts – a career high—to help the team to a 24-16 victory over the Ravens. He scored from both 51 and 52 yards, marking the first time in his career he has made multiple field goals over 50 yards in a single game.
His performance on Sunday tied the second most field goals made in a game in Vikings history, behind Rich Karlis’ team record of seven against the Rams in 1989.
The Vikings signed Forbath as a free agent last November after releasing Blair Walsh. This is the second time he has been awarded NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in his six years in the NFL. He previously earned the honor in 2014 as a member of the Washington Redskins following an overtime win over Dallas in Week 8.
With Sunday’s win, the Vikings now stand alone at the top of the NFC North. This week, they head oversees to take on the Cleveland Browns in London on Sunday.
