Gophers volleyball trying to Dig Deep

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Gophers volleyball team mantra and hashtag for the 2015 season is #DigDeep, and they’re already getting to work. Last season was tough for a program normally flying high, finishing with a 19-12 record overall but just 9-11 in the Big Ten.

“Last year, we didn’t finish the way we wanted to finish,” said senior outside hitter Daly Santana. “Through the spring we worked really hard on the things that we needed to do to make sure that didn’t happen again.”

The new season kicks off at the Stanford Invite against Texas A&M on Saturday, Aug 29.

“I feel like we’re much closer to having a group that’s going to be able to do the things we need to do to be successful,” said Gophers head coach Hugh McCutcheon. “It’s about work, it’s about learning, it’s about competing and being good teammates.”
