The Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday confirmed Flip Saunders has been hospitalized following a setback in his fight with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Sam Mitchell will take over as interim head coach of the Wolves, and general manager Milt Newton will take over more of Flip’s basketball operations duties.

Timberwolves CEO Rob Moor said the team is not putting a timetable on Flip's return to coaching, but they hope to carry-on with what he has built.

Sam Mitchell will take over a young team, but says he will lean on the leadership of Kevin Garnett and newly-signed veterans Tayshaun Prince and Andre Miller to help set the tone in locker room.
