First seats installed at new Vikings stadium
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The 65,000 fans who will fill U.S. Bank Stadium on Vikings game days will all soon have a place to sit. This week, crews started installing the first of the purple seats that will eventually fill the new home of the Vikings.
With less than a year until it opens, then $1 billion stadium is more than 65 percent complete. Crews will have it fully-enclosed sometime this fall. During the winter months, the technology and scoreboards will be hoisted into place.
Construction is slated to be done by next summer, just before the Vikings 2016 preseason games begin.
