Bradford to practice Thursday, Vikings sign new running back
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford is expected to practice Thursday for the first time since Sept. 21, Head Coach Mike Zimmer confirmed.
Bradford injured his knee during a non-contact play in the team's season opener against the New Orleans Saints. He missed the next three games, with Case Keenum filling in at quarterback.
Zimmer has not named a starting quarterback for Monday's game against the Chicago Bears. At a press conference on Thursday, he said if Bradford is ready, he will play.
The Vikings also announced the signing of running back Stevan Ridley on Thursday. Ridley was signed after rookie running back Dalvin Cook suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Lions in Week 4. He was officially placed on injured reserve on Thursday morning.
Ridley, a 2011 third-round draft pick from LSU, spent the first four seasons of his career with the New England Patriots. The 28-year-old brief stints with the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons and spent the 2017 training camp with the Denver Broncos before being released in the final roster cuts.
The Vikings play the Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
