Apple Valley mayor declares 'Tyus Jones Day'

The Mayor of Apple Valley declared Wednesday, April 22 as "Tyus Jones Day" after the triumphant alum helped push Duke to a national championship title over Wisconsin and declared entry into the 2015 NBA Draft.

He tallied 23 points on 7 of 13 shooting in a late win over the Badgers for the national title, 13 of those points coming in the last 11 minutes of play.

The freshman also earned 2015 Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors. On April 15, Coach K announced he would be entering the 2015 NBA Draft. At a press conference, Jones said he'd "forever be a Duke Blue Devil," but on Wednesday, his Apple Valley community shined with pride.

The Apple Valley City Council and Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce recognized Jones at the Hayes Community Center, followed by a short parade that ended at Apple Valley High School for a ceremony in the main gym.
