Woman in critical condition after hunting accident outside Amery, Wis.

A 33-year-old woman suffered a serious injury in a hunting accident Sunday in northwestern Wisconsin.

According to the Polk County sheriff's office, around 7:15 p.m., the woman was hunting on her parents' property in Clear Lake Township. As she was leaving her deer stand, she walked into a field and was shot by a 17-year-old boy who was hunting on the nearby property.

The woman was transported to Amery Medical Center and later transferred to Regions Hospital in Minnesota. She is in critical, but stable condition.

The Polk County sheriff’s department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are investigating the incident.
