Victim identified, vehicle located in fatal North Minneapolis hit-and-run

Medical Examiners have identified the female pedestrian that died after being struck by a vehicle that fled in North Minneapolis on Tuesday as 50-year-old Yvonne Yvette Gibson.

Minneapolis Police were called to the area of 30th Avenue and Fremont Avenue North around 5:30 p.m. after 9-1-1 callers said a vehicle had struck a woman and fled westbound on 30th Avenue North towards Girard Avenue. The victim was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

Minneapolis police located the suspect vehicle while on routine patrol Wednesday morning. The car is currently in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department, but police have not located the driver of the vehicle.

City cameras were able to capture images of the suspect vehicle.
