WACONIA, Minn. (KMSP) - More teachers are being honored as part of Fox 9's annual Top Teacher awards.
Jill Good is a fourth grade teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School in Waconia.
Opal Ehalt, a parent of one of Good's students, nominated her for the award. She described to Fox 9 how Good often stays after school with her students for extra tutoring and works extra hard to inspire her class to reach their reading goals.
"She takes the time to get to know each student individually, and tailors her teaching, assignments and lessons to highlight their gifts and talents," wrote Ehalt. "She makes learning so fun, and at the same time has high standards. Kids really love to learn in her class."
Good also encourages hands-on learning and being involved with the community. Every Friday, she takes her class to Memory Care, a senior living facility, to interact with the patients.
As a Fox 9 Top Teacher, Good will receive $900 from Royal Credit Union for classroom supplies, a Subway sandwich party for 50 friends and a Top Teacher award.
