Teen dies in crash between semi and car in Coon Rapids

COON RAPIDS, Minn. (KMSP) - An 18-year-old man died after a head-on crash between a semi truck and a vehicle in Coon Rapids Tuesday afternoon, according to Coon Rapids police.

At 3:17 p.m., police responded to a report of a head-on crash at Xeon Blvd and Northdale Blvd. The semi was heading eastbound on Northdale while the car was heading westbound on Northdale.

Firefighters extricated the 18-year-old driver out of the car. He was conscious when crews rushed him to the hospital, but he later passed away from his injuries.

At this point in the investigation, it is unclear which vehicle crossed the center line.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash at this time.
