Summer makes a comeback this weekend

After a nice run of fall weather with near normal temps, this weekend will see a return to summer, temperature-wise at least. This time of year we a lot of high pressure move in from the northwest and bring that cool Canadian air with them. This weekend we will tap into an area of "American" high pressure that is sitting over the Western part of the country. As a low pressure moves across central Canada, it will pull some of that bubble of warmth into the North Star State as we wind up our weekend.

The record high for Saturday is 90°, so I don't think that record is in jeopardy. However, the record high for Sunday in the Twin Cities is 84°. I think that record is safe, but when we are within 5 degrees of a record, it's worth a mention.

Enjoy the warm up because long range models are hinting at a return to average and even below average temps by the following weekend.
