Subway robbery suspect arrested in Coon Rapids

Coon Rapids police have arrested a suspect in connection a robbery at a Subway restaurant.

On Saturday, police arrested a 38-yaer-old Brooklyn Park man after he entered the Subway at 11650 Round Lake Boulevard NW at about 3:51 p.m. with a knife, took an undetermined amount of money and fled. Another employee called 911.

Responding officers set up a perimeter and requested assistance from Hennepin County Canine Units and the Minnesota State Patrol Helicopter and also tracked him. He was arrested about 1 mile from the restaurant and no other suspects are being sought, police said. Police are investigating whether he’s connected to other robberies in Coon Rapids and Blaine.

“Outstanding police work and teamwork was shown by all agencies and officers involved,” Coon Rapids police said in a news release.
