STILLWATER, Minn. (KMSP) - An April blizzard welcomed Jessie Diggins, a local Winter Olympics hero back to Minnesota. Saturday was “Jessie Diggins Day” in Stillwater.
A parade was held for the Afton native who, along with her teammate Kikkan Randall, won the first ever US gold medal in cross-country skiing at the winter games in February.
Diggins, a Stillwater High School graduate was thrilled to be back—even during a massive snowstorm. She waved and threw souvenir gold medals to the crowds.
“This is where I learned about teamwork, camaraderie, working so hard together,” Diggins said. “It’s where I learned to love racing.”
