Snowfall, slippery roads lead to at least 219 crashes statewide

Updates from Minnesota State Patrol prove it was a dangerous day on the roads.

Between midnight and 11 a.m. Sunday, 79 more crashes were reported. This is on top of the 140 crashes between early Saturday morning into 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, making the total during this storm 219 crashes.

There were also 307 spinouts since early Saturday. State patrol also reported one fatal crash in Benton County.

MnDOT is encouraging people to avoid driving if possible. They’re also reminding those who are on the roads to slow down and to leave extra room between their vehicle and other vehicles on the road.
